Week 3 - Response to Content

"Does commercialization destroys the web or does it improves the web?"

As the world has been globalised, there has been an increase in foreign investment and cross-border transactions that put many businesses under pressure to find innovative ways to continue to market their products and services. Therefore, they started to put their advertisement on the web which is now used by most of the people in the world. However, there have been controversies about whether commercialization destroys the web or the web improves the way people do business.

According to Carla, she argues that advertisement on the web helps in people doing their business because it is cost effective, can be a market penetration, time saving and the content is timeless. It helps reducing budget when compared with printing brochures and editing them and websites stay open 24/7. Besides, it saves time since it does away with counseling on product uses and benefits. However, Carla also argues that advertisement is destroying the web, saying, it is difficult to attract customers since it is everywhere on the web and there are also so many same products and services. Besides, salespersons and customers are isolated since there is little personal contact between them.

There are still arguments going on about the issue whether comercialization destroys the web or it improves the web. There is no right answer since it depends on the way people use the web for commercialization.
