1) What are the main issues in new communications technology?

Hacktivism
- the use of computers and computer networks as a means of protest to promote political ends.

Privacy
- The quality or state of being apart from company or observation and 2 More importantly for individuals, it is one's right to keep personal information confidential.




2) How do we distinguish between old and new communication technologies?


Old:
Oral (Storytelling)
Graphic (Cave Drawings)
Written (Letters, Articles, Books)
Radio
Television

New:
Mobile Phones (SMS/MMS)
Computers, the internet, E-Mail
Message Boards & Discussion Lists
IM (MSN Messenger etc)
Video Games consoles
Social Media
Smart Phones / Tablets / Portable media



3) Under what circumstances will new communication technologies become old communication technologies?

Old communication technologies are traditional means of communication and expression that have existed since before the advent of the new medium. Therefore, it is inherent in the name new communication technology that new communication technology will one day become part of old media.
